﴾ Indeed I have given my trust to your Rabb (the Nurturing Sustainer), so hear me. ﴿
With the argument done, he declared his stance plainly: "Indeed I have given my trust to your Rabb." It is striking that he said "your Rabb," not "my Rabb," ascribing the rabb to them: the One he trusted is the Rabb of them all, not a Rabb private to him, and He sustains and tends them even while they deny Him. So the word carries a hidden call: the One I trusted is the One who brings you yourselves into being, so for one of you to trust in Him is a return to your Rabb whom you had forgotten, not a going out from you. The emphasis with inna fixes the declaration and cuts off hesitation.
He closed with "so hear me": the fāʾ makes a request to be heard, and to be witnessed in it, follow upon the declaration of trust. Faced with the threat that came before (verse 18), he declares his stance openly, neither hiding nor screening it, and asks that it be heard from him. This shows firmness: whoever has truly trusted speaks his trust aloud and does not slip away with it, for the trust in the heart asks for a witness over it. Whether the one addressed by "hear me" is his people or the messengers who were sent, the meaning is one: I call you to witness what my heart has settled upon, and there is no going back from it.
The man declares his stance plainly: "Indeed I have given my trust to your Rabb." In saying "your Rabb," not "my Rabb," he ascribed the rabb to them: the One he trusted is the Rabb of them all, who sustains them even while they deny Him, so the word holds a hidden call, namely that my trust is a return to your Rabb whom you had forgotten. Then comes "so hear me," where the fāʾ makes a request for witness follow upon the trust, so in the face of their threat he speaks his stance out, not hiding it, and asks that it be heard from him. Such firmness shows that true trust asks for a witness over it; and whether he was addressing his people or the messengers who were sent, the meaning is: I call you to witness what my heart has settled upon.
