﴾ Then whoever fabricates the lie against Allah after that, those are themselves the wrongdoers. ﴿
The connective ties this ruling to the demand that the named Book be brought and recited, and "whoever" then comes as a conditional word that opens the ruling to every doer. Fabricating, from f-r-y, is a splitting that sets apart and then runs on unbroken, the movement stretching softly until it has produced a piece shaped on something other than its own origin. The iftiʿāl form brings the doer deliberately into that making. The verb comes in the past inside the condition, so fabrication is set out as a finished work that carries the one who did it, not as a vague danger or as a lineage that clings to a group without any act.
The fabricating hangs on "against Allah," after which its object, "the lie," is named. Lying, from k-dh-b, is a concealing that puts out a sharp, piercing image and then fastens it to a place as though it stood there firmly. Fabrication makes the image; lying names its being cut off from the truth while it is fastened to that place. "Against Allah" places the gravity of the act in the attribution, not in some passing mistake about the ordering of food. The preceding verse had referred the claim back to the Book that is recited, so what stands at the center here is an attribution that survives that test.
Distance, from b-ʿ-d, is a going out that appears from the depth of an interval and then settles beyond a limit. "That" carries with it everything that preceded: the general lawfulness, the exception one set upon himself before the Book, the command to bring the Book and recite it, and the condition of truthfulness. Fabrication therefore does not fall into an empty space before any clarification; it comes "after that." The demonstrative on its own fixes the stage to which the ruling attaches, the time after the clarification that "that" has gathered, so the time frame lies inside the sentence, carried by its own words.
The connective of the answer ties the condition to the demonstrative "those," so the description returns to everyone who fabricated after that. The pronoun "themselves" then comes as a separating pronoun that tightens the fit of the predicate. Wrongdoing, from ẓ-l-m, is a covering that closes over a thing and takes hold of it, keeping it within. "The wrongdoers" is an active participle, which makes wrongdoing a continuing, working nature. The description neither comes before the act nor widens out into ancestry: it is born of fabricating the lie against Allah after the clarification.
The connective makes the fabricating follow upon the test that referred the claim back to the Book that is recited. Whoever, after that, shapes the image of the lie and hangs it upon Allah enters a tightly built answer: "those are themselves the wrongdoers." The demonstrative gathers the doers of the act, the separating pronoun fixes the description on them, and the active participle makes it a continuing nature. The ruling starts from the making of a false attribution after the way of the Book and its recitation had been opened, not from the name of a party.
